Tom Hindley is a UK-based online media professional from Greater Manchester. After leaving an abortive (and not particularly satisfying) attempt to enter the world of finance, a chance redundancy led to a job offer in a marketing department of an international medical recruitment agency Medacs Healthcare led to being bitten by the marketing bug.

The next career move was to join as an SEO Specialist and online content manager. This was to prove fortuitous, and a fascination with SEO and online marketing began. This fascination led to a number of successes, including reaching and occupying a #1 position in Google UK for high demand search terms including “sat nav” and “satnav”, “Tesco petrol stations”, “car reviews” and many more.

A move into agency-side online marketing led to Tom working for online marketing agencies in Liverpool and Greater Manchester, where he worked on projects for brands including Belvoir Lettings, Music Exchange, Barker & Stonehouse, Herbalife, Scorpion Shoes and a whole host of SME’s. With highly targeted SEO and social media campaigns, most clients reached page 1 in Google, Yahoo and Bing for their top search terms, successfully challenging their competitors and increasing market share and conversions.

With over five years of SEO success encompassing both client side and agency-side projects, Tom has turned his attention to demystifying the so-called “black art” of SEO, explaining misinterpreted terms and doing as much as possible to help companies, employers and professionals understand this new industry.
